Our First Baseball Game!

Samuel and I are watching our first baseball game together...Yankees vs. Red Sox. He, too, is a Yankees fan. So he tells me. You know you can't force this kinds of things on youngsters. :) Samuel wanted me to let those of you not tracking with the standings know that the Yankees are up 4.5 games on the Sox. Impressive, no?

It has been a pretty quiet day here. That is welcome. His numbers - blood gas, blood oxygen saturation, heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, etc. - all have been good and stable. Thank you, God. And if things continue to look good through the weekend, the docs might let Samuel get breastmilk through a tube in his nose starting on Monday.

This morning we had our usual "Pancake Saturday Morning" in the Apinis house. Then Kathryn's mom (i.e. Pat, Gab'm, Gabu, Momma Pat) and the boys came in to the hospital with us this morning and left after lunch. I know that K's mom was glad to get a little time with Samuel. I think that we've mentioned that Caleb and Joel cannot see Samuel; only parents and grandparents are allowed into the CICU. I think that that is hard, especially for Caleb. But, thankfully it is a really family/child-friendly hospital. K, C, J, & I played hide-and-seek in their garden for a bit before lunch. I think that it was good for the boys to have some play time with mommy and daddy.

Thanks so much for your continued prayers. God continues to be very gracious to us as we seek to trust Him in this difficult season.

  1. You are right. You can't force this. I believe he is secretly a Rangers fan and is afraid to tell you.

  8. Some of my baseball angst was relieved by the thought of the joy that Samuel surely took from the Yanks sweep of the Sox this weekend...
