This is our record of the short life of our son, Samuel, and the days following. Samuel was born on August 1, 2009 with several heart defects and very sick lungs. He died on August 31, 2009. August was a holy month for us,and we are so grateful for the days we had with our third son. We are convinced that our God, who carried us through each moment, is GOOD and TRUSTWORTHY. We are learning to praise Him in new ways and depend on Him more fully as we grieve Samuel.

Hey Bryan and Kathryn (took me 4 tries to spell those your way and not ours),
ReplyDeleteYour family has lived in our family's prayers these last few weeks. Every night when I pray with Lauren at bedtime, I ask her what we should thank God for today, and every night she mentions "Caleb's baby brother Samuel." Tonight it was, "Thank you got for going to Home Depot (our time just the two of us), Italian ice, and baby Samuel."
Dear Kathryn and Bryan,
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are breathtakingly beautiful.
We're glad you had a special day yesterday.
Continued love and prayers.

Happy B'day Bro. Joel looks like a little man now. The last time we saw you guys he was still sporting that baby fat. Praying for a peaceful day for you all. We love you guys!
ReplyDeleteBryan and Kathryn,
ReplyDeleteWow. Thanks for the beautiful pictures. I had a God moment this morning at NP. As we stood to worship, it popped into my mind, "Worship for Bryan and Kathryn and their boys." Not really where I go before worship...usually. So with the picture of Aaron and Hur, I did. It was an incredible God encounter to worship for you guys. I know you are exhausted and many times too weary to worship audibly. Somehow, in ways that God understands, I pray that this was a blessing to you guys. Here are the words of the song:
Before the world was made
before you spoke it to be
You were the King of Kings
yeah you were, yeah you were
And now you’re reigning still
enthroned above all things
Angels and saints cry out
we join them as we sing
Glory to God, Glory to God
Glory to God, Forever
Creator God you gave
me breath so I could praise
Your great and matchless name
all my days, all my days
So let my whole life be
a blazing offering
A life that shouts and sings
the greatness of the King
Take my life and let it be
All for you and for your glory
Take my life and let it be yours
I especially thought of little Samuel as I sang, "So let my whole life be a blazing offering
A life that shouts and sings the greatness of the King!" His little life for however long God choses to allow us to be graced with him is a blazing offering that shouts and sings the greatness of our King. I am blessed to know you all.
Those pictures are beyond beautiful! I love the one of Kathryn kissing Samuel! You guys are blessed to have these amazing pictures of this time in your life!
